KUALA LUMPUR – ASM Global, a venue management company and producer of live event experiences, has partnered with the Youth and Sports Ministry via the Malaysia Stadium Corporation (PSM) to enhance existing operations and event activities at the Kuala Lumpur (KL) Sports City precinct.

ASM Global will partner with Malaysian company Sportswork Sdn Bhd in delivering services for KL Sports City.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony will be held at Wembley Arena, London tomorrow between PSM chief executive officer Faidz Sanusi and ASM Global vice-president Ed Sanderson and witnessed by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

Chairman and Chief Executive of ASM Global Asia Pacific and Gulf Region, Harvey Lister AM said the group was delighted to be partnering with the management team at the iconic KL Sports City in a joint endeavour to further establish the precinct as a vibrant community and event hub for the people of Malaysia.

The move further expands ASM Global’s footprint in Asia with the addition of an iconic sports and events precinct, including the 87,400-capacity National Stadium in Bukit Jalil and the 16,000-seat Axiata Arena.

ASM Global brings its vast industry experience, with a portfolio of more than 300 stadiums, arenas, convention centres, entertainment districts, theatres, amphitheatres, equestrian and recreational centres.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizal described the MOU as a great opportunity for PSM and ASM Global to enhance KL Sports City into a premier destination in the global sports and event industry.

“Both the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil and Axiata Arena are iconic properties owned by the Malaysian people and we owe them a responsibility in ensuring these venues make us proud,” he said.

The announcement is a further step forward in the Malaysian government’s ambition to see the National Sports Precinct at Bukit Jalil develop a world-class reputation as the host of leading sports, entertainment and community events. – Bernama, July 22, 2022
